Sixty Seconds

Minutes take too long
in their approach when we're soon to meet;
they drag as if anchored by cement as the moment draws near
when I see your eyes and your smile and I light up
inside.

They speed along, disappear into the ether
as if drawn in powder in a cool summer windstorm
they cascade and swirl from our grasp
into nothingness, except for the warmth and the
happiness and the smile of a secret, a love and
a promise of another day, another night, another
minute.
